An adventure on the Behind the Rocks trail in Moab, Utah. Every year a super fun group of friends goes to Moab, Utah. With the focus being on 4wheeling on Moab’s amazing trails. Most of the group are hardcore Toyota fans. We usually go the same week that Cruise Moab event is taking place. Rigs include two first gen Toyota 4Runners, two Toyota FJ40’s, and a few Toyota trucks. This year one of the trails that we tackled was Behind the Rocks trail. So by having a Red Rock 4-Wheelers Club rating of 7 making it one of the harder trails in Moab. Without a doubt, there are some pretty crazy obstacles to challenge even the best 4×4 (Toyota) rigs.
Behind the Rocks
This trail starts off reasonably subtle, but don’t worry one of the first significant obstacles is a good one. A steep climb that you can rarely stop on while going up, just gas and go! (Pictured on the right) photos don’t show any of these obstacles height or how scary they can be in person.
Moab, Utah is an amazing place to visit. You don’t have to be into any particular sport or activity to enjoy it. Some of the other fun things Moab has to offer are mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and other paddling or water activities. Not to leave out that there are two of the best national parks within a few miles of town. Arches and Canyonlands National parks are just minutes from the city of Moab. These are a must-see, and a good tip for photo’s at these parks is getting there early. Obviously, if you are into photography you know the golden hour is best for light. Also, this gets you to these prime parks before the crowds. The Colorado River runs right through the middle of town (basically). Just staying in this small town itself is a fun trip for me. There are all kinds of great restaurants including Moab Brewery that has great adult beverages. wether you prefer staying in a motel or tent camping with no services Moab has it all. Moab is a must visit any time of the year.
