What goes along with camping and adventures? Mans best friend, of course, a good dog. My dog Mae or on Instagram she is @MaeGSD, a rescue dog that came to me at just over one year old. She was with a family that was no longer able to care for her. I did not get much information about her previous life. Her condition when I became her new guardian was not great she was underweight and had a choke chain on her neck. MaeGSD had no fur on her neck as a result of living a life tied up with that choke chain on.
A new life as MaeGSD
Mae’s given name from her first guardians was Mabel. This was not my favorite, but she listened very well to Mae. So now her full name is now Mae Bell she goes now by just Mae or Mae Mae. My family and I have always loved animals. MaeGSD entered our family after we had just lost two previous longtime dogs Cabo (15 years) and Blue (12 years).

It was a little over a year after losing our last dog that I found Mae. My daughter (14 years old at the time) and I had gone to see a few other dogs and puppies before I found Mae. Unfortunately the day I got a text back from Mae’s previous guardians my daughter was not able to go with me to meet her. This ended up not going well for her, she felt left out on the family dog decision. Resulting in her not liking Mae for several months. Note: always include the entire family in these kinds of desions, it just goes better.
Social media pets @MaeGSD
It’s a new era when even the pets and animals of all kinds have a social media presence. You can find her @MaeGSD on Instagram. She is following in the footsteps of my favorite social media dog @Loki. Loki is a wolf-dog that is a media sensation with over 1.5 million followers on Instagram. Loki is also a GoPro ambassador, and if you have visited the rest of this site I am a huge GoPro camera fan. If MaeGSD can gain even 1/10th of that type of following I would be so proud.
