Sony Tough SD cards for adventure photography or shooting in harsh environments there is only one memory card I choose. First of all choosing, the best memory card for your specific camera is a big decision only second to the camera itself. I want to talk a little about why in my opinion these are the best adventure photography memory card. Now with all things photography, there is rarely one best of a given piece of gear. You would be right I’m just sharing my opinion and experience using these SD cards.
After using these in some seriously demanding environments like Johnson Valley OHV, Moab, and in the snow-covered mountains of Utah. There is really a best the Sony Tough SD cards. The reason I say this is that there are not any other fully sealed SD cards on the market.

Sony TOUGH SD Cards
Having used these cards with Sony Alpha series cameras specifically the Sony A7iii with great success. Durability is where these Sony Tough SD Cards shine. Sony had first only made these with their G-series card technology. Now they offer the same TOUGH housing with their M-series tech that is much cheaper.
- Sony Tough M-Series (277mb/s read 150mb/s write)
- Sony Tough G-Series (300mb/s read 299mb/s write)
Above all, you want to make sure that your photos are secure and writing to your memory card. Now some users would argue that if you don’t take your memory card out of your camera why would you need an SD card like this? Consequently, the simple answer is, Yes. As a result, if you are only shooting a quick hourly or daily event you probably don’t need this sealed style card. In contrast, it only takes one-time losing data and you will say I never want that to happen again.
This is where these Sony Tough SD cards give you some assurance. Even cold weather alone can sometimes affect gear. Or even putting that memory card in your pocket with zero worries about damaging it. Therefore the Sony Tough SD card is my pick as the best SD for Sony A7iii camera. Furthermore, give them I try you will not be disappointed.

Sony Tough SD Recall update:
Even though these cards are tough as nails Sony has had an issue with a few of these cards having a corruption error. One of my cards was included in this recall. You can find all the info on the recall here. Yes, sometimes even the best company’s have a quality issue here and there. I believe you can learn a lot about a company in the way they deal with issues like this. Sony has been super easy to deal with in getting my card replaced. The super nice person on their support chat knew exactly what the issue was. Got my info and with 5 min I had an email with a FedEx label for the return, done deal. I still stand behind these cards with my personal support. I have since bought yet another to add to my gear.
